MBA Application: How to improve your candidacy

You have decided to study MBA. You need a competitive GMAT score among other things to be able to apply for a school of your choice.

You need to appear in GMAT examination and secure a good score.

At the same time, it is equally important to keep working on improving your candidacy for your preferred MBA programme.

How to do that?

We share a couple ideas that may help you in your application journey till you succeed!

1.      Improve your GMAT score

There is no harm in taking the test twice or thrice unless you can improve your score by a substantial margin. Most of the school take your highest score as the benchmark. So, if you are confident, go for it. You may even cancel a bad GMAT score.

How to improve it? Analyse your test score and assess whether you can get a better score. If yes, HOW?

Take help through a quant course or work on you verbal skills through credible course materials.  

 

2.      Work on professional fronts

Network, seek opportunities, take responsibilities. That improves chances of a faster promotion or even better that much sought after accolade. This also helps you get an outstanding recommendation letter.   

 

3.      Community work

Get involved with your community. A seemingly small involvement has the potential to propel your application in a big way. Admin committee always prefers a well-rounded candidate with a diverse world view, who is aware of the surroundings and wishes to contribute outside the professional settings.    

You must be careful as this involvement must be a genuine!

 

4.      Leadership development

Get involved with that most prominent project of your organisation. Seek a role and make most out of the opportunity. You may even consider deferring your application to the next round if you can secure a promotion or a pay hike before u press the submit button.      

 

5.      Seek professional help

There is no harm in taking a professional help if that polishes your application. Take help, talk to friends, get your application reviewed or even consider getting a consultant work with you on your application.
